I have been passionate about art all my life. I now split my creative time between painting and sculpture and exhibit widely in my local area. My interest in 3D work began after studying sculpture and ceramics at college. Whilst there I was obliged to make only pure abstract work but now enjoy producing figurative pieces in two distinct styles, realistic and stylized.
In 2006 I joined four other artists to from a small exhibiting group, collectively known as VIRIDIAN. I am a long standing member of The Leven Art Society and a founder member of the Guisborough based Priory Art Society. I regularly exhibit in the society exhibitions and have also had one man shows over the years. I am represented by several galleries in the north of England and have paintings and sculptures in private collections in the U.K. and also Spain, Sweden, New Zealand and the U.S.
SCULPTURES
My realistic sculptures are modelled in clay without using an internal armature and are then cut into several pieces and hollowed out before rejoining them with clay slurry. The stylized pieces are mainly slab built and worked on further. When thoroughly dry they are fired in a kiln before silicone rubber moulds are taken from them and limited editions are cold cast in bronze resin by Lakeland Mouldings.
